The owner of this property on the beautiful Bahamian island of Inaugua, a successful seafaring captain, decided to create a home for his family and visitors, and a tourist lodge all in the same project. Proceeding from information provided directly by the captain, I designed a handsome home with a beautiful series of suites for tourists and friends. The private, personal home wing of the building was to be linked to the public, hospitality wing by a cross-gabled portico with timber supports.
The interior renderings reflect the owner’s original desire to include vaulted ceilings and elegant materials. The house has since been rescaled to fit a more modest budget, and its detailing retooled to address a more local island vernacular.
